Are you a Bucket Filler?  A Bucket Filler is someone who says positive comments to others, helps them out and it can even just be a smile!  Filling someone's bucket can make you feel happy too!

Today The Year 4 Beach house had our buddies visit us from QE2 base.  We helped them to make buckets, so they can be bucket fillers too!

Here come the Aliens

Mrs Douglas read us the story 'Here come the Aliens,' by Colin McNaughton.  

We like the alien pictures because they are funny looking. They eat funny stuff like toe nail soup, eyeballs, garlic jam and tentacles.  The story is about how aliens what to come and attack the humans.  We think everyone would like to read this story.  We have this story in our school library.

Freeville School Library

Our Library in 2014

We are back on the blog! For the last couple of years Freeville School Library has been operating the library out of the school hall, it's hard but we keep on going, we could operate a library in a box! Our School library is never going to be fixed because this is our last year as Freeville School, Christchurch, New Zealand.

Next year we will be a new merged school with a different library name...I wonder what it will be? I wonder if we'll get a new Library? Can you imagine what it all will be like?

This year we are going to write book reviews, this should be lots of fun, and next year I guess we'll see you all at a new combined Library maybe?

I've been very busy finishing off the library signage in both English and Te Reo.

The' Back of The Hall Library'

The Library at the Back of the Hall...

At the end of last year I unpacked our wonderful collection of books from the container and set up a library down the back of the hall.  It's been so exciting to have classes visiting this space and issuing books to take home and read.  We have a great collection of new books arriving in our library and I can't wait to share them with you all.

We have a new section in the library, Te wāhanga Māori, Māori section.  This is a selection contains Māori Myths and Legends, non-fiction books and picture books written in both Te Reo and English.

A library down the back of a hall...

Earthquake - Clean-up

Today I was able to start packing up the books into boxes. Thanks to Paul, Tania, Mrs Bourke (and her intern), Sharon and Mr Welsh who helped to stack many library books into boxes!  When I took these photos I didn't think the library was that badly damaged.  However, when I entered (wearing my official hard-hat), the floor would rise and full in parts, and there's few nice cracks.  Let's hope it's all up and running again in 10 weeks!
