ANZAC Day...

This year we couldn't display any books about  ANZAC Day in our school library.  It was also the first time in more than a century that there were no dawn services to commemorate ANZAC Day.

We have a few books on ANZAC Day in our library.  Remember you can always search for books online using our school Web App - click here.

These are some of the books we have in our library...

A lot of Kiwis gathered in their bubbles outside by their letter boxes to pay their respect.  What did you do to commemorate ANZAC Day?

Read some blogs from students @Rāwhiti School About ANZAC Day:

Kaeden, Zara,  Ava,  - share information about ANZAC DAY.

Caitlyn - makes ANZAC Biscuits.

Eartha - creates a Lego ANZAC Day memorial.

Jai and Anameka - ANZAC Day Activities and remember Great Great Uncle Walter Watson

Jessica - cleans up and weeds around the poppies on Anzac Drive and shares facts about ANZAC Day.

Minttu - has an ANZAC Dinner.

Samuel and James - make giant poppies.

Jasmine - makes ANZAC biscuits.

Sanchia - draws some ANZAC poppies.

Greta - ANZAC poppies in her window - We're Going On A Bear Hunt.

Did you find any poppies when walking around your neighbourhood?

I put a poppy near Ted's ear and put a large poppy in the window...

The tallest handmade poppy I've ever seen!

We're going on a Bear Hunt...Te Haere ki te Rapu Pea

We’re going on a Bear Hunt...@Rāwhiti School... Friday 24th April 2020!

Bear hunts have been popular during our lockdown time.  What’s in your window?

Below is my bear called Ted and he has been adopted.  I can't knit so my Grandmother knitted Ted this lovely blue jersey.  My Mum sewed his cotton pants and bow tie.

When I'm in my kitchen I've seen many children stop and admire Ted.  During Easter Ted was holding a basket of wooden eggs.  Sometimes he's a bit mischievous and hangs out of the window when its open.

I took Ted on a wee photo shoot around the garden because he loves fresh air and likes to see what's growing...

Charlotte has also written about the two teddies she has in her window.

Ted looking out the window....getting some fresh air on a pile of garden waste because the dump is closed...
Ted is chilling out in the garden...one photo there's a lemon tree behind him...you can just see some lemons growing!

Colin Thompson Jigsaw Puzzle - The Inventor's Cupboard...

Colin Thompson is an author and illustrator of many books.

We have a number of books by Colin Thomspon in our Rāwhiti School library.  Have you ever read a book by Colin Thompson?

These are some of the books we have by Colin Thompson in our library...
I was surprised when I was given a jigsaw puzzle with a picture created by Colin Thompson.  I didn't even know his artworks were used for jigsaws.

Ravensburger are excellent quality jigsaws and completing this 100's jigsaw was a joy.  This was the first jigsaw I've completed in years and it was an absolutely brilliant!  My favourite section was all of the tangly pipes.  Can you spot the labrador dogs?

What have you been doing during the lockdown holidays?  Have you done any jigsaws?
